A Brief Update About A Busy Former Chef

A Brief Update About A Busy Former Chef

Hello all! Been a while, I know. Things have been busy over here at the Berman-Resnick homestead. Plus, that heatwave, am I right? Bleech.

Due to the oppressive heat, we haven’t been doing too much cooking around here lately. If you’re looking for some low-heat dinner options, allow me to direct you to what we’ve been eating. Highlights have been larb, my vaguely-Korean beef bowl, gazpacho and the odd charcuterie board.

Personally, we’re very busy into wedding planning. It’s finally happening! This September, even! Invitations are going out soon, though due to capacity and social distancing mandates, we’ve had to reduce our guest list by quite a bit. Sorry in advance to those who got cut, it’s not personal. We fully plan to party with you in the future.

In other, work-related news, have you caught up with The Last Service lately? If not, what are you waiting for? The Ottawa gallery is still up for full viewing and the Golden Horseshoe gallery just went live. Go see some amazing pictures and read the stories of some phenomenal chefs in these two regions of Ontario. The Golden Horseshoe gallery is also being featured in Toque magazine, so if anybody grabs a copy, grab one for me, too! Toronto gallery coming soon!

Speaking of incredible chefs, have you checked out my series on Ottawa’s F&B Up-and-Comers? It’s hosted over at apt613, and you can read the first three chapters here, here and here. Chapter 4 drops next week and we’ll hopefully close out with Chapter 5 two weeks after that.

Don’t forget, you can also catch me in Edible Ottawa taking care of First Bites. I’ve got a great lineup to introduce you to in the September issue!

That’s about all from me, lately. Despite the heat, Liz and I have enjoyed a few dinners out, which has been just what the doctor ordered. I love cooking at home, but it can never truly replace the love we have for dining out. I’ve managed to get back to the gym, to hopefully try and lose a few pounds before squeezing myself into the wedding suit I bought almost two years ago. Things are nice. It’s nice to say that.

How are things with you, dear readers? Drop me a line! Leave a comment below or shoot me an email, telling me what you’ve been up to, what you’re eating or cooking these days and maybe what you want me to cover in the future on this sometimes-updated blogamajig. Until next time!
